Hikari arrived at our Maine home on November 27, 2011. This image is from her first week with us. She passed away peacefully on August 17.
Our Newfoundland Hikari turned 12 years old this year. That is a very good age for this breed that has an average life expectancy of 10. We often take her to a local park where she can watch the activities, including the other dogs out for a walk. Click on the image for a larger view.

Drool is an occupational hazard for any Newfoundland owner. Fortunately, females like Hikari don’t actually drool that badly for the breed. Click on the image for a larger view.

Hikari is nine this year and well into her senior years. She still has a puppy face and youthful inquisitiveness—she has just spotted another dog on one of her walks in the picture above. She is certainly enjoying city life. Click on the image for a larger view.
We wish you a wonderful and prosperous New Year!
