Tallgrass Prairie, Part 3

The prairie is very alien. In Maine and Florida, trees dominate the landscape. But unlike a desert, this land is covered in vegetation. On this particular day, the wind was our biggest obstacle. Soon after taking this picture, we returned to the car as the wind made standing almost impossible: not an issue for the low-lying grass and the most likely reason the trees are in the valleys and not the ridges.
